Summer in Colorado is my favorite time of year. We live in Buena Vista, just a few minutes away from the Arkansas River, and I get to go swimming pretty much every day! I LOVE swimming and jumping off of rocks into the river. I also get to go rafting on the river with my mom and dad, but I’m not too fond of it. I usually whine and cry most of the time and take any opportunity I get to jump off the raft and go for a swim. Here’s a pic from one of the first times I ever went rafting down the Browns Canyon section of the river. This is the start of the Zoom Flume rapid. I was only eight months old!
Now that I’m almost seven years old, I do enjoy rafting a bit more, especially when I can lay in the sun on the raft. This year on the 4th of July we went rafting down Browns Canyon again. It’s probably at least my tenth time down this section of river. We had some friends join us. I love friends! They went down the river in duckies (inflatable kayaks). We spent the whole day on the river and stopped at a bunch of spots to swim and play in the sand. My dad even jumped off of a really tall rock into the river. It made me really nervous so I swam out to save him.
I’m sure I’ll have many more river adventures in the future so don’t forget to check back.
